WEEK 29
Wednesday 25th April
Today everybody stayed in the studio till 10pm it was a nice day you can feel the panic at the moment everyone is really busy creating their looks, garment construction is coming along well although inserting zips is something I HATE and I have to do 4!
Week 28
Wednesday 18th April
Continuing on Ga
rments the pressure is really on I cant wait to see how it all turns out when I see other peoples work imn the studio it scares me because there are some woooow pieces but I think even though mine look simple if I do them properly theu could look very effective
WEEK 27
Wednesday 28th March
Continuing with the construction of garments and I am nearly ready to make the real thing This is the happiest ive been with a project so far I really think it could look good if my sowing turns out any good
WEEK 26
Wednesday 21th March
TOILE presentation, today I had mine as I was in the first group I had quite a few mistakes which I wasn’t really surprised about because I love designing but making is really not my strong point. I took notes so aslong as apply them and continue to check things properly I don’t think they should be a problem
TOILE
Thursday 15th March
I have nearly finished my toiles for my toile presentation and have purchased my fabrics from sherhards bush now they have been approved. Im very happy with them I just love the contract of a dull heavy cotton drill against a bright feather like chiffon.
week 25
Wednesday 14th March
Continuing with our toils I have been getting help as my garments look fine on paper but when I make them a few tweeks need to be made. When I make tweeks on the garment I then have to edit the exact same thing on the pattern, this is good practice for my pattern cutting.
WEEK 24
Wednesday 7th March
Now I have decided what I will make its time for pattern cutting. It is realllly a weakness of mine so getting it right is going to be difficult because I want it perfect. For my jacket I am using a mens shirt block and editing it a lot. I used this because my bomber jacket has an awful lot of volume so using a bigger jacket and gathering it with elastic or ribbing would look good.
WEEK 23 JACKET
Thursday 23rd Feb
I have designed a bomber jacket which I have had really good feedback, im thinking this will be part of my collection. By making it out of soft delicate fabrics I think it would be quite interesting and elegant.
Thursday 23rd Feb
Using draping on the stand I have come up with some interesting shapes and possible garments all I will need to do now is resolve them, the fabric I used was a sample from shephards bush it turned out really well, the more fabric I used the more volume it gave the garments and im very happy with the outcome.
WEEK 22
Wednesday 22nd Feb
Still working on designing garments for my range plan, see pictures for progress
VOLUME
Thursday 16th Feb
Working on designs as you can see, I am experimenting with jackets, tops, day dresses, evening dresses. We are supposed to take an element of our designer as inspiration towards our collection so I have been thinking of ways to encorparate Pucci’s designs into my work, The easiest way I could do this is print??
WEEK 21
Wednesday 15th Feb
I visited shephards bush and got a number of samples, im really loving chiffon and silk crepe at the moment, light materials always seem to hang so elegantly. This is perfect for my concept.
For my garments im thinking big gathered sleeves, rooshed skirts, garments with a LOT of volume.
CHIFFON
Thursday 9th Feb
COLOUR AND MOOD – Now we have our concept boards we have to extract colour and fabrics from them, from my images you can see a theme of oranges, purples, pinks which flow really nicely together . I think I will use this as my colour pallet. As I am looking at volume and floating I think masses of sheer fabric or gathered chiffon could look amazinggggg.
Week 20
Week 20
Wednesday 8th Feb
Students had to present a small presentation on their designers today, im happy with mine and it has given me an insight on a designer I knew very little about ...
Initially he used his knowledge of stretch fabrics to produce a swimwear line in 1949, but soon moved onto other items such as brightly coloured, boldly patterned silk scarves.
By the early 1950s, Pucci was achieving international recognition, receiving the Neiman-Marcus Award in Dallas and the Burdine's Sunshine Award in Miami.
Marilyn Monroe was buried in one of his dresses, and his designs were worn by everyone from Sophia Loren to Jackie Kennedy and latter day pop icons such as Madonna in the early 1990s.
FLOETRY
Thursday 2nd Feb
During private study I managed to work on concept board, I came up with the title FLOETRY which happens to be the name of a band I really love but also fits perfectly with my concept pictures, Ive been looking at photos of clouds, ink in water, long draping fabric ect
WEEK 19
Wednesday 1st feb
We were placed in groups to come together with a concept, This concept could be absolutely annnything, I find it hard to do exercises like this as I just don’t know where to start but seeing other peoples concepts has been a major help. I find that looking at words help ... So far I am thinking
VOLUME, FLOATY, SMOKE, FLOWING, LIQUID, MOVEMENT, BODY
PUCCI
Thursday 26th April
So I have done more research on Pucci and im actually a big fan of his work he was a Florentine Italian fashion designer and politician. He and his eponymous company are synonymous with geometric prints in a kaleidoscope of colours. In class today alexis showed us some useful pattern cutting techniques I didn’t know which was good to learn.
WEEK 18 PUCCI
Wednesday 25th April
Today we were given our project brief, Haute Couture, Very Exciting. We were each given a designer to research, mine being Pucci, I don’t know much about him only that he is an Italian designer known for his bold prints
